Entry with the Go Seattle Card
Discover the dream that led Scandinavian immigrants to the Pacific Northwest at the only museum of its kind in the country. Located in Ballard, Seattle’s Scandinavian neighborhood, the Nordic Heritage Museum illustrates the dramatic journey to America by immigrants from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The museum offers intriguing programs for the whole family with concerts, lectures, films, craft classes, story-telling, festivals, and language classes. Permanent exhibitions bring to life the work and traditions of early immigrants through artifacts, photographs, and personal stories. Traveling exhibits from Scandinavia offer up-to-date information on the traditions and culture of today. The Museum Store is the place for unusual Scandinavian gifts and books. Tivoli/Vikings Days in July and Yulefest the weekend before Thanksgiving offer visitors a lively introduction to Nordic culture.
