For seven decades, the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) has been a leading visual arts institution in the Pacific Northwest. SAM collects and exhibits objects from across cultures, exploring the dynamic connections between past and present. SAM always exhibits highlights from its collection of over 23,000 objects that include African, European, Islamic, ancient Mediterranean, American, Australian, Oceanic and Asian art, modern and contemporary art, and Native art of the Americas.

The Seattle Art Museum offers audio, self-guided and guided gallery tours designed to help visitors make the most out of their museum experience. Other programs include lectures, musical performances, and activities for adults and families

Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00 am–5:00 pm; Thursday–Friday, 10:00 am–9:00 pm

Closed: Mondays, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. All hoildays are subject to change without notice.

Directions:
Take Metro: The museum is easily reached by using the Metro bus system. Detailed rider information is available by calling Metro at 206.553.3000, Sound Transit at 206.398.5000 or Community Transit at 206.353.7433.

By Car: Heading North: I-5 to Seneca Street exit, west on Seneca Street to First Avenue, and turn right (north).

Heading South: I-5 to Union Street exit, west (toward Puget Sound) on Union Street to First Avenue. The museum is one block south.

From I-90: Heading west, merge onto I-5 North, take Madison Street exit. Turn left on Madison and right on First Avenue.

WaMu Parking GarageEntrance is below the SAM building on Union Street between First and Second Avenues.

Proceed to ticketing desk on the 2nd floor. May not be valid for all special exhibitions. Special exhibition surcharge may also apply. The Go Seattle Card is accepted daily until 5:30 pm; during all other times standard admission will apply.
