The nation’s first full scale commercial monorail system is a great way to move from downtown to the attractions at Seattle Center, but the monorail trip is also a popular Seattle destination in itself. Built for the1962 World’s Fair, it zips along above gridlocked traffic at a top speed of 45 miles per hour. Riders are treated to expansive views of downtown office buildings and hotels and residential Belltown. The finale of the mile-long trip is when the train blasts through a portal on the Experience Music Project.
At Seattle Center visit the Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Science Fiction Museum, Pacific Science Center or one of the other world class attractions near the Monorail station. Or, travel to the heart of downtown Seattle where you will find all major hotels, eateries, and shopping. The downtown Monorail station is also located within easy walking distance of Pike Place Market and several of Seattle's favorite waterfront attractions.
